Delightful Ham and Brie Quesadilla

A ham and brie quesadilla is a simple yet satisfying meal that combines salty ham and creamy brie cheese for a delicious and quick bite. Here’s a recipe to create this tasty dish:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • 2-3 thin slices Black Forest ham (or any other sliced ham you prefer)
  • 2-3 ounces Brie cheese, thinly sliced (rind removed, if desired)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (or cooking oil)
  • Optional additions:
    • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • Pinch of dried thyme or herbes de Provence
    • Splash of hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Fillings: Slice the ham and brie cheese thinly. If you prefer a milder brie flavor, remove the rind before slicing. You can also shred some cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese variety for an extra layer of flavor (optional).
  2. Heat a Pan: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Melt the butter (or heat the cooking oil) until it starts to shimmer.
  3. Assemble the Quesadilla: Place one tortilla on the hot pan. Layer half of the sliced ham and brie cheese over one half of the tortilla. Add any additional fillings you like, such as shredded cheese, a drizzle of Dijon mustard, a pinch of dried thyme or herbes de Provence, or a splash of hot sauce (optional).
  4. Fold and Cook: Fold the other half of the tortilla over the fillings to create a half-moon shape. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking. Cook the quesadilla for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. The cheese should be melted and gooey.
  5. Cut and Serve: Cut the quesadilla into wedges or triangles and serve immediately. You can garnish with a sprinkle of fresh herbs like chives or parsley for an extra touch of flavor (optional).

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the tortilla before adding the cheese and ham.
  • If you don’t have brie cheese, you can substitute it with another soft cheese you enjoy, such as Camembert, goat cheese, or mozzarella.
  • To make sure the cheese melts evenly, you can use a lid on the pan while cooking the quesadilla for the last minute or so.
  • You can add other ingredients to the quesadilla, such as sliced apples, caramelized onions, or roasted vegetables.
  • Leftover quesadillas can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat them in a skillet or microwave until warmed through.

Enjoy this melty and flavorful Ham and Brie Quesadilla! It’s a perfect option for a quick lunch, light dinner, or satisfying snack.
